This problem can be seen on railway station platform an in running trains ,malls highway hotels,restaurants and multiplex cinemas also. There is total collapse of MRP law enforcement authorities. Consumers are being looted throughout India without any fear of law. more

MRP was made mandatory with a purpose but with these tricky practices, quoting MRP is defeating that object. Today, almost all products, including essential food products like edible oils, pulses, food grains, spices, n several items r with such MRPs, with large margins for the traders/dealers to offer some discounts, depending on various situations n competence. There is no check on this especially after the Corona epidemic started, this practice is flourishing n people r suffering quetly with no interference of Govt. authorities. There was a time when Govt. had a system of controlling prices of all essential commodities directly or through RBI, n also the farmers taken care of with the MSP ( minimum support price ) for some of their crops/products. Such systems r dissolved today. more

Yes. There are many instances of dual MRP for the same product. It is required to be regulated with law and rules. There are also instances in many places as indicated in the post where in the goods are sold at a higher price than mandated on the package. There are also instances of putting a new MRP by pasting a sticker on the old one. A website is required for people to send inputs to the authorities along with solid proof and there should be a team which will initiate action on the manufacturer/dealer with feedback to the primary complaining individual. more

Liquor is injuries to health. Recently I have bought three bottles of MacDowell's No.1 from the private outlet at Sector 20, Dwarka, New Delhi. Print price (MRP) on the Bottle was Rs. 340.00 X 3 = 1020 but the Sales Personnel charged me Rs. 1290.00 divided by 3 = 430.00 for each bottle. Old Stocks are being sold at New Rates. Some hanking panking in Excise Duty. No Control by the Regulatory Authority. Consumer talk high about GDP (Gas Diesel Petrol) but nobody talks about bungling going on in Liquor Trade. Why Liquor and GDP be brought under GST. more
