Vehicle transfer

Greetings to the group.
This is not a grievance as such, its more a request for assistance.
I had sold a 2 wheeler way back in 2003 and executed appropriate documentation. However I suddenly received an insurance renewal reminder this year, which means the buyer has not transferred the vehicle to himself all these years.
At this stage I have no means of locating the buyer: in fact there is every probability the vehicle has changed hands a few times. At the same time I cannot ignore the fact that the vehicle has not been transferred out of me.
If some one in the group has had a similar experience or knows how to address this problem, I would be deeply obliged for guidance. more

If you have signed document of selling your vehicle than not to worry. more
Why cant we ave NOC online..I have a vehicle from bhopal and I use it in Maharahstra..I want to sell it to a maharashtra customer..I need to go to Bhopal, search for an agent.Pay some commission, pay the RTO charges..Spend some days n MP to get the clearance and then sell the car in Maharashtra...We are Indians and we can drive the vehicle in any part of the country ...Why cant we sell the vehicle in any part of the country more
Seller should have a signes copy of both the parties. even xerox is sufficient. with this one should first reply to the insurance co which had sent the letter and then make a casual report to the RTO with regd post ACK due Forget about the past and be tension free more
There is nothing to worry. You have already sold the vehicle. I hope you have obtained the discharge certificate. File an information report at RTO where the vehicle was registered along with copy of discharge certificate. Don't bother about insurance notice. Just relax. more
PLEASE CONTACT RTO AND INFORM ABOUT THE SALE AND CORRECTION IN THE RECORD. IF YOUR VEHICLE GETS INVOLVED IN ANY CRIME, YOU WILL BE IN DEEP TROUBLE. AT THE SAME TIME, OFTEN INSURANCE COMPANIES DO NOT UPDATE THEIR DATA. MY CAR MET WITH A ACCIDENT AND WAS FOUND TO BE REPAIRABLE - A CASE OF TOTAL LOSS. AFTER THE FORMALITIES, I GOT THE IDV OF THE CAR FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MATTER SHOULD BE OVER FOR ME AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY. BUT I KEPT GETTING CALLS AND SMSs FOR RENEWAL OF INSURANCE OF A NON EXISTING SCRAPPED CAR. more
