TRAI : Now the “Channel Drop”?

As per the new regulations by TRAI, we selected the channels and paid the cost for the same. However!

Since then I find that there is a regular feature of “Channel Drop” for some paid and some Free channels.

TRAI needs to explain, how the same is allowed. If NOT, what is the action that shall be taken. I request you all to check some of the channels selected by you, but NOT watched as primary need.

From my experience, you all could also find similar “Channel Drops” for one or the other channel if you have a DTH connection by one of the service providers.

Republic Bharat, a Free Hindi News channel started about 6 weeks ago has gained popularity. We selected it for out Tata Sky connection (Channel # 526). This channel is available everyday without any problem, so neither there is a problem with the Dish, nor with STB, nor with the TV.

Exactly at 7.50 pm, this channel disappears, only to become available again sometimes around 10 pm, sometimes only on the next day.

Which TRAI Rule allows it?

While being at Bengaluru, we have selected the Regional pack for “Marathi” channels. It means that the cost of this pack is INCLUDED in the total monthly price charged by Tata Sky (who offers one Free Regional Channel Pack).

This pack runs from Channel # 1203 to # 1299. Two of the Free Channels are NOT available with a display saying that we have NOT subscribed to it. Can Tata Sky do it? Is it NOT a cheating? What is the Penalty to Tata Sky? TRAI needs to answer, and every viewer MUST know it in advance.

Worst, half the channels from this pack that are available for viewing also disappear exactly at 7.50 pm.

How does TRAI manage to “look the other way?” Or TRAI is totally unaware of such happenings?

Because Tata Sky offers the programs to be recorded and seen suitably at some other time, one would opt for recording some programs from some channels. But as the channels themselves disappear, there is no recording done at all.

There may be many other channels just “Dropping Off”, which we have yet to realize.

What is the penalty for it? TRAI needs to answer.

I am sure, that TRAI has never even considered a possibility of such “Channel Drops” because of insufficient homework done.

Those who have opted for other regional channels through their DTH service provider, MUST check all their channels during the day prior to 7.50 pm and after 7.50 pm to find the ‘Channel Drop’

We have selected Sony Marathi in our pack , but it is NEVER seen. Many complaints to service provider Videocon evokes standard response "We are taking necessary action" , but the problem continues more
TRAI must review & reduce the charges to avoid further harassment and financial hardship to general public. more
I got a pre printed list of channels option 100 channels wheather i like it or not i have to choose minimum for which i need to pay Rs 150 ( NCF1 =Rs 130 + GST) option 2 is additional 50 channels ( NCF2 Rs 20 +GST ) this will be add one to option 1 + 150 +GST either i choose these two out of these 150 I may view only 10 or 15 channels (TAMIL) rest different languages or i can choose option 1 + individual channels of my choice or groups of each all the cost will exceed minimum 300 + GST for even for the 20 30 channels to view if yu go each they charge 20 Rs if you go for pack each pack 40 to 100 so ultimately TRAI Helped the operators to make money more that what we were paying without TRAI INTERVENTION . This is how these people motive TRAI, RERA, FERA, IRA, RERA Etc work for the people after taking salary and perks from our tax money! so the people of this country ultimately looted by people who get paid till retirement and pension etc..etc from our tax money ( they announce ascheme as if the cost will come down and get an approval . and these people approve blindly and keep closing their ears and eyes to avoid seeing and heraing of the noise and jumping THIS IS "FTA" free to air as there operators who made money by selling spectum and swindled crores one side . worst is tamilnadu as poor people are provided TV worth Rs. 2000/- in our money and through back door also collect monthly Rs 300 ( Rs.3600/-) every year by these Channels and their own operators every year ! Good business roaring recurring income for their family and party how scientific looting this is ) Great Tamilnadu Politicians more
In last 3 month some free channels also start charging and convert them self as a paid channel. consumers are always in receiving end. more
