Trade Margin Capping or end of fake MRPs
So contact lenses by almost all companies are marked up such that MRP is 100% above landing cost.
Why is there no regulation around this. Why is it that such loots are allowed by legal metrology? Can localcircles and consumer affair dept find a solution to this menace. People bargain 10-15% but not 100% more

Our Govt Depts knows everything but still they want it to be reported by someone.This is wrong.Laws have to be changed. more

The rule of the land should clearly fix the range of variation allowed for mark up from production cost to MRP so that things are not offered with discounts ranging to 80-85% to fool people. more

There should be some reasonable margin or expanses. There should be a CAP on expanses/advertisement/margin after production. If govt Expanses is 90% and Margin is 10%. Then govt should change policy to make it affordable. more

If there is a will, there will be a way. But Government departments wants that the complaint should come to them, so that they can think of taking action, if possible. more

Mr. Harpal Singh has given the break up clearly . Thank you for appraising us raising issues . We are not fully aware of the pricing pattern or the Mark up as it is called . But what most of us are puzzled is about what is the mark up from production cost . Most of us will understand the margins for retailer and distributor . It will no doubt vary from group of products to products. But should there not be a cap ? So that the consumer doesn't feel exploited . Another intriguing factor is that a Branded item marked MRP X is sold in one stores / outlet is sold at X - 10 Rs. , in another sold at X - 20 Rs. That means the margin is kept too high . Isn't it . That is where a Cap will be appreciated to curb the exploiters. more
