the cars being sold in the country (especially our own indian manufacturer ones) don't meet many international safety standards. forget meet, they don't even qualify for the tests. when these cars are sold in the developed nations' market, they are sold with many major safety modifications.

while here in india, the same cars dont even have the minimum basic features like airbags. while they are very crucial in providing safety to the occupants. how can this even be given a miss ? why ? don't we, as indians matter to the car companies ? aren't we human beings ?

in the run to minimise their costs, the companies are putting the users in harm's way.

some safety features should be made mandatory in all vehicles. this will go along way in curbing the deaths and injuries on roads. yes, the costs will rise, but isn't that worth more than a life ?

there are institutes like IIHS in the international arena which HONESTLY evaluates each and every model as soon as it is announced, for its safety worthiness. only when they certify it as worthy, then the vehicle is released into the market. why shouldn't such an institute exist in our country ? it will certainly have a huge impact on the products being sold, safety on the roads and the road death rate in the country.

just like the Star rating introduced for home appliances. this is certainly pushing the manufacturers into making an efficient product. isn't it ? more

air bags and rear view cameras should be made compulsory, rear view cameras in heavy vehicles and school vans are extremely important On Monday, 4 August 2014 1:50 PM, Ashwin Prakash wrote: more
The suggestion is very good. i think by 2017 our Indian OEM's also provide the Airbags compulsory as per new changes in regulations. But we need to educate the people wearing a seat belt compulsory. The seat belt will reduce the 70% chances of deaths. For example recently Maharashtra minister Gopinath Munde accident case. He was not wear a seat belt on that day. The report also says the same. So, we need to educate the people what is the use of Safety Belts also. more
Government is being run by politicians and the department secretaries are mere puppets and have no voice over any of their suggestions. The consumerism is very much inactive and whatever the products released the cracy and moneyed people going for the new product to keep up the status of NUMBER ONE in acquiring the product. The manufacturer print the brochure in very attractive colours and messages. Educated illiterates also in the Administrative cadre. India needs reforms in consumer laws and active societies to move forward and succeed in their movement more
What is the government doing? Whether they also consider the life of citizen of this country not worth? If not immediate action to be taken by the government to improve the safety norms for the vehicles sold in our nation. Will they do that? more
Very good suggestion. Inbuilt safety features go a long way towards ensuring drivers' and passengers' safety. more
