SCSS

As i understand the Senior Citizen Savings scheme is for the retired and 60yrs above. The total investment allowed is Rs 15 Lakhs per individual or Rs 30 lakhs for a couple. I came to know from the local post office person that the total is only Rs 15 lakhs if it is taken as a joint account, I have Rs 20 as joint account and Rs 6 lakhs in my spouses account, can some one guide and confirm if the investment is in order. more

You can have in post office and the other one in any bank.Or alternatively open in two different banks one in your name and another in your spouse's name.Normally post office's working is not that user friendly
as per experience. more
if you have 20 lacs in joint a/c, then you should not have 6 lacs on your spouse a/c because 15 lacs only per individual permitted. more
