Maximum limit is Rs.15 lacs per account. There is no bar in the number of accounts that can be opened but it is subject to overall ceiling of Rs.15 lacs. Thus the person in Post Office has correctly interpreted the provisions. more

My suggestion is once again that the participants posting their thoughts must remain within the thread of the topic. Now, the postsing of Mr. C.S.Narayanan and Mr. Pradeep Agarawal have posted their own individual messages disjointed with the original positing that called for the suggestions and participation resulting in loosing the originality of the topic and the continuity of the discussion. No. You can open only two accounts in your and your wife's name. No joint account permissible. more
