Sales of Sub Standard products

I have noticed that there are some companies that make sub standard products. These companies cause great in convenience to consumers. They make a poor quality product. in many industries like hardware, sanitary ware, electronic audio/video components, auto components there aren't recognised big brands.

these companies sell products through local traders. consumers buy then and then have to return. rarely they get refund. sometimes they are stuck with a defective product. what is the solution to this menace.

Why should anyone be allowed to produce anything with no quality certification? What are the norms and standards. These are worse than chinese items that we complain about. our own indian industry. more

While discussing on the issue one must keep in mind the purchasing capacity of majority of our people, which does not mean that this group of people should be deprived of purchasing the required items & articles available within the capacity of their purse. You must have observed the huge difference in prices among the branded and unbranded articles. Therefore, there are large number of manufacturers who manufacture different kind of articles of so called inferior quality to feed the major chunk of our population. With enough financial capacity, you have choice to be selective and to go only for the branded articles of best quality. If the production of articles of so called poor quality is stopped, I am afraid, the market will remain only for the people with strong financial capacity to afford them. On the above back drops, I am of the opinion that the people with adequate purchasing capacity should not have any problems on the availability cheaper quality products, which system is prevailing in all countries of the world. These products are the necessity of our society. more
There are lot of certifications required for various consumer products and the consumers should be more aware and make other public aware to purchase genuine products only. Always go for the products having details of manufacturer, consumer care number, MRP, Serial number of products, warranty card and most important is the mandatory license number that can be checked on official websites. Like wise, ISI marks having manufacturing licence are mandatory for Packaged Drinking Water, Helmets, Ply wood, Baby food, electric items etc and that can be checked from website and even consumer care cell can be contacted for the genuineness of products and their dealers. Always insist for bill and pay tax that is a guarantee foe the genuine product. Be sure to get complete bill with description of product like Sr no, make, model and size etc. more
First of all, I feel that Ms Shivani's post belongs in the Local Circle called "Connected Consumers...." Today, it can safely be labelled as a fact, that the Indian producer couldn't care less about the quality of their products. Because, whatever they produce, even substandard, is consumed in the local market....despite the consumer's frustration.....at good prices. And that's the reason why local producers do not endeavour to improve upon the "quality" to compete in the world market, which gives Indian products and producers a "bad" name... Not re-investing profits earned in new technologies/machines/equipments has abundantly proven to be a bad approach towards development. Fact also is that an entrepreneur, who refused to look beyond the tip of their nose, never made it to the front. At the same time, so long as the NRI's keep on investing their hard currencies in India and so long as foreign entrepreneurs do the same, the Indian government.....with their coffers full...... doesn't feel encouraged to motivate local producers to better the quality of their products for export purposes. This results in Chinese products invading world markets. There seems to be a misnomer going around in our country that the Chinese products are sub-standard. Folks, this may apply to some products but not to all. Critics of this statement may please check their checklists ........ more
As rightly pointed chinese products and not bad for the money what we pay it is worth the quality or serve the purpose.. eg a napkin has to just absorbs the moisture that's all for what purpose you use is different . the same napkin used for hotel on the dining table or for toilet does not matter. even toys for kids as the kids get bored in one or two weeks max one month and it get back to dumb yard. goes even to secondary market through scrap market more
Dear Shivani : this is the malaise of the Indian market. It is well known that the 'duplicates' market flourish in all industrial product segment. In many cases the manufacturers themselves produce two sets of products of the 'same batch number' to avoid paying Excise duty. This happens with the connivance of the Excise official and happens in Liquor, Motor parts, Pharma formulations etc etc. PERHAPS WITH THE ADVENT OF GST THIS MAY STOP. However, it is largely a HOPE...!!.. Indian legal system is so much full of loopholes that many a times the producers of faulty products escape from punishment. Govt"s ENFORCEMENT AGECY"s Activity is so pathetic that consumers would rather treat the purchase of a faulty product as a misfortune ( Naseeb Kharaab Hai " ) WE DO HOPE WE WILL HAVE AN ENFORCEMENT AGENCY LIKE "FDA OF USA", COME ALIVE IN INDIA SO THAT WE CAN GET SOME RELIEF...!!!..... more
Why there can not be standard Institute in line with ISI to examine the quality of the products ??? more
yes there are institutes but the question arises about the willpower of officials in the present era of corruption. Public has to come forward in groups more
