Protect consumers from being influenced by celebrities appearing in Ads.

It has become a common practice for Companies, Private Banks, Insurance companies to rope in the services of celebrities from the Film fields to canvass for their products and services.

These celebrities jump on to the opportunity which enriches them with hefty fee for such appearances even when these celebrities are not fully aware of the actual benefits of such products or services and above all these celebrities have no inkling of any nature on the deceptive practices of such companies or private banks or insurance companies.

These companies, private banks and insurance companies pay very heavy fee to those celebrities not for charity purpose but to influence the gullible public who are blind followers of such celebrities.

Some of the private banks and their group insurance companies (I have experience with one such) go to any extreme in cheating the customer by alluring to rope in the customer and to later deceive and deprive such customer, such a bank and its insurance company do not hesitate to indulge in unfair and restrictive trade practices by even indulging in criminal acts such as fake documents; fabricated & doctored documents; forgery of signatures; tampering with evidence of forgery etc.

Hence, there should be a complete ban on celebrities to appear in any type of advertisement and if a celebrity does appear, such a person should be awarded with the most stringent punitive action where his money or otherewise power would not bail the person out. more

Banning celebrities will not work, however there should be a clause that in the event a Company is charged and convicted for any fraudulent practice then all those who endorse such products are also liable to pay a portion of the damages payout more
We may have seen that supreme court given verdict for CBI inquiry against Sarada group of companies for their allege involvement to collect the fund after using the brand image of so many celebrities. It is not fair. Required to ban celebrities from appearing in advertisement or they have to take responsibilities for the same. more
As long as customer remain uneducated and naive, no one can help. Any amount of banning, etc. will not help. more
Truth is even if you ban a product which is not good for human consumption, human have tendency to procure it in any case. Gutaka is banned in Maharashtra, but easily available at higher cost. Wine is banned in Gujarat, but you can get any brand at a price. So putting a ban on production or sale of such thing is not solution. Where there is demand, there will be supply. By banning, government is losing its revenue. Almost in every budget, excise duty on cigarettes is raised. Its sales is increasing each year. We note that group of cricketers come together in a advertisement to promote a brand which sales wine as well as soda. Legally it can not be banned. Only remedy is educating consumers on health ground is most important. And also point raised by Ms Hina is also very valid. Children must be taught as subject in education which covers these subjects: hazards to health on consumption of wine etc, traffic rules to be followed on road, train etc. and civil duties including duties towards our parents, relatives and friends. This education must be compulsory in all schools and can not be banned on religious ground. more
Come on lets grow up in business what sells is of prime importance .We need to educate the buyers and make them demanding and discerning we can not ban advertisement and product push or pull . Please name one civilised country where its done ...and these are most developed and civilised and disciplined nations more
