I had applied my form in november for myself and my daughters. I got my passport in December after police verification in lonikand police station...the police told childrens do not require police verification as it was written n/a in the token slip of my daughters...but then I didn't receive my 2 daughters who are 2 and half years old. I went to passport office they sent me to senapati bapat road. Then s.p.rd old passport office sent me to lonikand police station. The lady police asked me why is my husband in Raigarh and why are you staying in Pune.. really ridiculous what type of police verification is this. There are many people who stay in different cities because of job. My husband bought a house in Pune so i stay in Pune and my parents house is also in Pune. Strange more

Passport service is outsourced to TCS (TATA Consultancy Service) who work at the PSKs, controlled by Regional Passport Office (RPO). PSKs are working professionally not the RPO. 1. In passport application form, nowhere it is mentioned that you have to produce your identity proof. But w/o identity proof your PA will not be processed. 2. As per MEA circular, Aadhaar (older than 1 year) card is eligible as identity & address proof. But Kolkata PSK does not accept it (Kolkata PSK has no circular regarding unaccepted of Aadhaar card. If you carry only aadhaar card you will be returned to home). 3. Any of the point, if your passport application get hold, it is difficult to clear. 4. Till date, you will find a long ques in front of Kolkata RPO. If you can't stand on line at early morning (6am to 7 am) you will not even access inquiry counter also. more
I reside in Noida and had applied for my daughter's passport. Daughter is 2.5 years old. Under non-tatkaal scheme. Its been already 16 days and the status says its still pending with the Police, local SP office of local thana which is Phase - II Noida Police station. I had paid a bribe of 500Rs to the Policeman(whatever he demanded) to quicken the process. As I wanted the passport a bit quickly. File Number is "GZ1069549003016" its still pending. Police people especially UP Police is living up to its reputation. I went to local police station they are showing in their register that they have cleared the file on 19th Jan and file arrived at their office on 17th. I don't know which Police wala is holding and sitting on the file. more
The passport issue service has become refined with the introduction of the Passport Seva Kendra. It took me one hour to complete the formalities in Harold House, New Delhi. The things were so smooth that I couldnt believe my eyes. Everything was so ship shape that I found it hard to believe that I was in India. Seeking the online appointment was simple and quick. The form to be filled up online was simple too. In the end you could pay the passport fee online by net banking. The appointment is most often granted the next day. The Centre is clean, air conditioned and well managed. As a senior citizen that I am there was a special que for varification of the forms. There are 3 phases and all professionally managed. The people behind the desk are efficient and finish off with you in a jiffy. The token numbers are displayed on several big boards. I got my passport in a week. The police verification was done afterwards. I urge all to take advantage of the online system. more
