Online Banking is Not Difficult for Single Holder of Account,Difficult for Joint Account Holders

I have been holding joint accounts in banks because this gives option of Either or Survivor.
I do not wish to create problems for my daughter-after me.
Name of my daughter is always as First account holder.

I requested StanChart bank for cheque book on 10.6.22,along with valid slip handed over personally to GK-1 branch.
Services of this bank has been Excellent till date.

I did not receive cheque book through Courier service because someone told the courier person in a hurry that I Do Not Live Here ( Despite a huge board of my medical practice displayed outside my flat)
I met the banker who reassured me that another cheque book would be issued within a week.
I Did Not Receive my cheque book despite going to the bank and reminding banker.

I received a letter to try online banking.
I am netsavvy to do telemedicine and to write for LC.
I tried Net banking but failed because my registered mobile number as a joint holder of saving account was not valid.
It seems that only 1st account holder can do net banking using registered mobile number and email.
I am still without a cheque book.

I may have to close this account for this inconvinience caused by Internet related issues.

Please share your experiences with all of us about comforts of online banking, done from safe premises of home. more

I faced similar problems with net banking. It is because all the work is done by computer which is as per data filled in. Bank staff will not be able to help much. I have stopped net banking and have no problem for the last many years. I use Debit/Credit cards and make payments by cheque to the bank. more
Even I don't want to involve internet in money matters
It's regarding cheque book not received and difficulties faced with staff during personal visits.. It's not easy to go to Bank facing traffic and parking... And this bank wants us to do only Netbanking more
Best is to open single holder accounts with a nominee. In case of single holder account netbanking allows you to do all transactions online and u need not go to the bank. In case any unfortunate incident happens to the account holder (death ) that account can be transfered to the nominee easily on submitting the death certificate and it usually takes less than a day. more
One can become seriously ill or hospitalised and become unable to either go t o the bank or even to sign a cheque. It happened with me . when my wife made urgent payments required. Once it so happened, that I was hospitalised in one hospital, and my wife in another. My daughter signed the cheque/withdrew money.
Such situations are quite common. That is why, Govt. of India desires all the pensioners to have joint a/c with their wives with 'EORS' options.
My suggestion, is to have multiple bank A/cs in more than one bank (of course, those who can afford) to tide over such crisis, which may be looming behind us. We never thought of both of us to get simultaneously hospitalised in two different hospitals. more
Pls try this on your internet banking on any of the joint accounts. Book a Fixed deposit online and after few days try to encash the FD before the maturity date. If u are able to break it before maturity online then ur above statement holds valid. I had problem with boi netbanking (joint account with wife). It allows me to open an Fd online but premature withdrawal not allowed online. For premature withdrawal both have to go to the branch.fyi more
I have made FD online for Joint Account in HDFC bank for small amount as trial. I could not get money minus signature of my daughter.
No signature of joint holder was asked for, when online FD was made by me.
A learned banker from P & S bank told me the way to get back my money in Joint FD and it is worth sharing.
The day FD gets, matured one of the applicants can sign and get back money, locked up as auto renewal mode of FD

Best way to tide over your problem at this juncture is to ask your daughter to raise a cheque book requisition through internet, and if StanChart have the option for collection from the bank, the same option to be indicated. Else, for delivery of the chequebook at your residence, please leave an instruction to the courier, for delivery at your preferred time. more
Thanks
I have tried this option
She went personaly to request for a cheque book.. I went to the bank in June.. Banker gave me her personal number and reassured me that she would be able to send me within 48 hours and I am still waiting after about 2 months.. More than internet banking it's now question of trust more
I have no problem with HDFC Bank NetBanking; I am operating on three accounts with different branches of HDFC with name sequences as A+B+C, B+C+A & C+B+A. more
Good to know about other private bank more
