MRP Violation post GST
Since GST announcement I noticed that MRP and products available have been changed.
Example 1: I visited famous LMB restaurant in Jaipur last week and they gave us "Indus Mineral Water" with MRP written as Rs.60, While Kinley and Bisleri are available at lower MRP. when I asked that why such higher price of this local made water, they had no answer.
Example 2: I bought a Lays chips (Small pack) from one of the highway joint and the MRP written on it was Rs.18 while the same pack is available at Rs.10 only.
Our government has to set a limit on selling price of basic things like Water , biscuit, namkeen and chips for all outlets, else the consumer will end up paying much higher price and such practices will continue to grow.
Would be keen to hear if any other member experienced same issue.

Even if the MRP is Rs.40/- that would be more than 3 times of its normal price. The price you had actually paid would be around Rs.80/- after adding 28% GST for one litre of water! Is it really necessary to consume bottled water while in restaurant or its simply an effort to display our living standard and capability, while we are aware that now a days even a small eating house do have a RO to offer safe drinking water to their customers, which is purer than the water caged in the bottle! Here it would not be out of place to mention that no bottled water contains any mineral substance and is simple water purified through RO, which can be verified for yourself. Further, at homes how many of us consume bottled water? We usually purify the water following different methods for drinking by us and our family members. The manufacturers are following different methods to ascribe different MRPs on their products of same quality & quantity earmarked for retailing through different channels, which should not be a legal process. While the consumers should protest against higher payments, the government should look into the matter urgently as these dishonest traders are duping the common man in large scale. more

A legislation is awaited in this regard,where a single product would be available everywhere including multiplexes and airports at same rate. i believe same is going to be enforced in 2018. more

There should be an agency to verify and fix norms for Ex factory and MRP inclusive of GST. This should be undertaken for all products. otherwise customers must avoid products which are high in cost though they may claim their quality is good. There cannot be two different prices for the same product which are identical from different sources. more
