MRP for Vegetables and Farm Produce

Bharatiya Kisan Sangh is advocating for MRP to be fixed on farm produce like vegetables. What do you all think of the idea? Can it be done?

I think personally its great idea. Tomato sell price by farmer is INR 5/kg and we buy it at INR 60 per kg? Having a tomato MRP of 30 will help all. more

AS I STATED EARLIER TO GIVE RIGHT PRICE TO FARMERS THERE MUST BE CO OPERATIVE SOCIETY FEDERATION IN THE LINE OF MILK FEDERATION EVERY VILLAGE HAVE SOCIETY TO COLECT PRODUCE FROM THE VILLAGERS AND SELL THEM TO MARKET AT THEIR PRICE SECOND THERE MUST BE PLACE ALLOTED IN EACH URBAN AREA TOWN PLACE CITY AND TALUK PLACES FOR FARMERS TO COME AND SELL SO FARMERS GET GOOD PRICE AND CONSUMERS GET AT LOW PRICE more
As a techie turned farmer, I can say that MRP is no solution. The solution is for the government to provide economical transport facilities by which farmers in every nook and corner of India can transport their produce to the nearest city and directly sell to wholesale buyers. At the same time, ever state government should set up retail organisations like Hopcoms in Bangalore, to which the farmers can sell their produce directly after transporting it through government facilities. The private merchants can carry on their parallel networks, but they will be not be able to fleece both sides - farmers and consumers - as they do now, if the government transport network reaches the smallest producers - at least two or three times a week. more
AN MRP should be implemented on farm produce too. But one should ensure that the proper price reaches the ultimate - the farm produce grower. the farmer. This farm produce should be placed under 0% GST. it is will of he government that matters. If there is a will there is definitely a way. more
Right now there is no visibility for a common man about the linkage between consumption and production. How many days does a farm produce take to reach consumer ? How many hands does it change in the process ? If there is big money in farm produce distribution why there is no competition. more
Idea is good but not possible!! more
