Metering and Billing Problems with DHBVN and UHBVN

I plan now to take up issues with the stakeholders related to metering and billing in the Electricity Sector. The paper would bring up violations of consumers' rights, regulations as defined under the Electricity Act. If any of the consumers facing problems related to metering and billing may kindly update here in their comment to this post.

In the sector of Electricity, the regulations are quite complex and are kept hidden from the consumers for their unethical gains. Most of us are ignorant about such regulations and hence these Discoms are adapting to unethical business practices without being noticed. One of the examples emanates from my previous post is that DHBVN was illegally demanding service cable from consumers to get the electrical connection. Not only the illegal demand of service cable but shockingly the DHBVN has even fraudulently generated an installation report without providing the electrical connection to the consumer. While the consumer has now been provided electrical connection, the next level of reporting for gross abuse of processes defined in the regulations as well generating installation report fraudulently is under process. more

Why are perfectly good meters being replaced by the electricity dept. more
There is an intention of supplying meters with newer technologies. Smart meters that shall be chip-based may be planned. Next, they may come out with prepaid meters. You will get a supply as long as there is a balance in your account. It is likely to be like a prepaid mobile connection. more
