Menace of Ballpoint pens

Has anyone thought of the life of ballpoint pens and what happens to them after the ink is over? Roughly, we can say that the life of a ball pen is 2-3 months only and in many cases it will get lost in between. All these ball pens are made of plastic and these are thrown away to the surroundings causing a great threat to the soil and environment. Can the government bring some restrictions to the use of ball pens and reintroduce the use of fountain pens, which have practically become extinct. When we were using fountain pens no waste was produced as the body of the pen was used again and again by filling it with ink. The number of ball pens produced in the country may be as large as the number of polythene bags and the menace of the ball pens is beyond explanation. Or is it that these ball pen bodies are all recycles and used? No, I think. It will be good for the environment and the Swachh Bharat programme if the production of ball pens is restricted. more

Thinking of eradicating of the ball pens at this stage may not be acceptable to many. However, keeping in view the disposal of plastic, there can be other alternative materials, which can be developed by the manufacturers. more
I agree also ball point making companies are not making them worth usable. Fountain pen can be good where people making environment good. more
The use of ball pen seems to be essential now a days. We cannot eliminate the ball pen in our day to day life. Of course how to dispose off the waste it depends upon our duties and responsibility. Just for the sake of disposal of waste we cannot ditch The invention of ball pen which is useful to the common people. more
In Spain some companies are asking institutes to dispose them in the box provided said purpose for best environment friendly disposable way. In Schools childrens should be taught this message atleast donot throw away if possible refill should be done. more
Yes it should be considered, but not only ball point pens , what about food items packed in polythene pockets in grocery shops? we should do some thing about thisd all. more
