This Resource post and the response was long overdue . Liquor consumers can't be sidelined as alcoholics and allowed to be exploited by Profiteers and adultrators . As a result the Tipplers bear this gross injustice with a guilt feeling. Tipplers are also Indian Citizens , Indian Consumers and as such need protection from Profiteering and malpractices . The attached bottle of liquor has an M.R.P. of Rs.760/ It is sold at 780/ . There is no Receipt issued as in Kerala & Karnataka at all . No digital payment accepted . Imagine the Liquor trade whole sale and retail is under Government agency called TASMAC headed by an I.A.S. officer . Instead of being a role model , the government agency itself paves the way for malpractices . The traders following such practices should be pulled up by the L.M.Department. more
I feel it is comparatively less in Delhi , otherwise i have similar experience of many states like UP, Himachal, Uttrakhand, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and many more. I cant confirm but it is believed a percentage of this money goes to governance in power.I suggest we must submit a petition through Change.org to stop this corrupt practice. more
This is happening for more than 14 years in Tamil nadu the govt owned Tasmac' shops, their employees.. who are selling liquor are charging Rs. 5-20 a bottle and no receipt is given for the money.. ie no bill.. but the neighboring state Kerala gives a printed receipt for every purchase. These buggars are swindling money in crores in a year close to about 1500 crores ...No one is bothered ... press came and did their write up once and has kept calm.. till now.. Looting public money... right in front of us we are unable to do any thing. more
Same stories in most of the state. more
It appears G Mohapatra is not aware of the ground realities. First, the liquor shops are supposed to sell only to those who hold permit to consume liquor. Since majority of the people do not have permit or they have exhausted the meagre quota under permit; none is entitled to get invoice. Those who are, are denied and said clearly to go and complain. Almost every liquor vendor is indulging in the same mal-practice .Controller of Legal Metrology or the Consumer Protection department do not take any cognizance . Only Mumbai and Delhi it is available on MRP. In all other States, rules, prices are different. In Rajasthan, almost every vendor is charging more than MRP. If once asks for bill , the vendor refuses. In JAIPUR CITY , the liquor vendors do not put any name on the shop except "SHARAB KA THEKA" in bold. The contractor name or the contract details are mentioned in smallest letters ,almost non visible. If some one tries to take photo on mobile, he is abused and mal-treated. Now one would say why not go to the police and complain? Yes, but then you should have that time, inclination and ready for harassment. As people say why one is taking liquor, it is harmful , so people just meekly pay what is asked if they wish to drink more
