Linking of Aadhar no and PAN card

Recently government made it mandatory to link the Aadhar no and PAN card. I tried for the same in the on https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/e-Filing/UserLogin/LoginHome.html web link. but after submitting the Aadhar no. I get the reply that "Name, Date of Birth or Gender in PAN database does not match with Aadhar database. Now I compare name DOB and gender in both the card and all is correct accept in name. In PAN card is my name contained with my Husband's initials and in Aadhar card it is not but it shows that I am wife of "XYZ". I tried to verify the database of both the card but it is not opening. Please guide me if, somebody knows it how to link it. more

R venkatesh You can shorten your name. But name should be same in adhaar and pan card. If it is different in two then it will not link. more
There should be only one Aadhar linked to PAN card, and vice versa. If one wants to shorten his/her name for common usage, why does the Govt want to meddle? It seems Govt is now insistent on becoming a nuisance, what with being present on TV ad nauseum. more
Asha Patel Yesterday I put update request for my wife for change her name from MEENA DESAI to MEENA KULIN DESAI in adhaar card by uploading self attested PAN card soft copy on UIDAI site. I checked the status of updation today on the site., & the message as under- " Your updation request has been accepted successfully & is under verification ". So you try and upload necessary documents, it will be done. more
As kulin Desai advised go to https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update preferably on internet explorer. SetScreen Display resolution 1024 X 768 .Enter your Aadhaar number, text verification and click on send OTP. Once you receive OTP on your mobile enter it and login. Before that please visit webpage and you will see instructions https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/ssup-instructions. Should you need any clarification , you may call 8762563272 I shall share my experience.I have resolved two such issues recently more
In response to some of the comments, I do not know how to post a copy of the SMS I have received in my phone from "BH-SBICARD". So I reproduce below the text: 'Dear SBI Cardholder, w.e.f 1st April'17, a fee of Rs. 100 will be charged for payments made through cheque of upto Rs. 2000. This fee will not be charged for cheque payments more than Rs. 2000. Visit sbicard.com to make payments digitally." more
