Issue with Diwali Gift Hampers
I have observed that there are two types of issues on Diwali gift hampers.
1) MRP published on many hampers is higher than sum of MRP of all hampers.
2) Many products inside the hamper are close to expiry date and that is not reflected on the outside hamper label in 99% cases.
Need clarification from Legal MEtrology on what is in rule and what else can be added in rules so consumers aren't cheated this way. more

This is the period of mass sales and whatever item which has not been sold in the past will be packed in Diwali Gift hamper. more

Great findings and one more gimmick by companies in trying to fool the end user. they will have three items and may be only one of them would be having expiry date later and the other ones will be nearing the buying date more

Very important issue raised in this circle. It is mandatory to write the detail of each item on outer packing for customer information. MRP can not exceed than sum total of consolidated MRP of all products. However, MRP can be higher if price of pack has written as extra as they can charge the cost of Packaging but no product can be sold more than MRP. Customer should be vigilant and proactive to approach consumer courts collectively. more
