Surprisingly, the government has not yet come out with its clarifications on the matter despite huge number of complaints are coming in every day. Are they slipping are simply encouraging the traders to continue their loot of the consumers? more
I still do not understand why GST is put when the price is marked as MRP inclusive of all taxes. Whenever we see that what should we do to protest/amend it? more
Mam, I am unable to understand your objection. Whether it is that, you got the a product having MRP of Rs, 749 (inclusive of all Taxes) at a price of Rs. 587.22 (inclusive of GST) or they have charged less GST of Rs. 62.92 instead of actual GST of Rs. 80.25 which could have been if the retailer would have sold you the product at MRP of Rs. 749. The misconception is MRP is the "Maximum" retail price and the product can always be sold at a price lower than MRP. In tht case, the price becomes the selling price and not the MRP. In case of lowering the price (Discount) GST is needed to be reworked, which would be lower than the GST amount payable when a product is sold at MRP. more
As far as MRP is concerned, it is inclusive of all taxes. You can alwayz bargain on MRP but in no situation, the retailer can charge more than MRP. Another aspect is that even in a case where the discounts have been offered on MRP like in sales discounts, the retailer can not charge any tax over and above the discounted prices as the discounted prices are also become revised MRP. The consumers are appealed to take up their complaints of charging more than MRP with the State Controller of Legal Metrology. more
Till the labelled products are being sold out this anomaly will be visible in the market. The so called label “MRP Rs xxx (inclusive of all taxes)” is a misnomer reflecting the height of corruption colluding Business community with the Government missionary. Taxes being subject to the state and the central Government and are subject to policy decisions of the states/Central how come the manufacturers predetermined it and included in the product MRP? more
