Big cheque- big is a relative term. How big? When you are seeking some help in all fitness of things you should come out with all details with out prodding, then only you would be able to get a best help. If your husband is the principal party to the deal, why is he not seeking the help? Why are you a facade for him? He has violated the TDS provisions in this regard- if the big you are mentioning is really big. TDS provisions of late are very rigorous if not practiced properly. Take the help of a professional at the earliest. It would be more cost effective ultimately. Taking help from a forum like this is only for educative purpose. more
Good evening maam u can simply get this pan no by anquring in bank of which u have given a cheque to them at the time of clearing , as if amount is big than they need to provide a pan no to their bank . more

All said and done, no where in India, properties above Rs 30.00 Lacs can be registered without PAN No. or you have to furnish a declaration. So if declaration is furnished, there will be no PAN No. more
The onus of TDS on sale of property lies with the buyer and if you do not deposit the tax on the sale amount, you will be punishable under the law. You should immediately write a registered letter to the seller and if he does not provide you the PAN number, you could ask your bank to stop payment of cheque. Has the property been transfered to your name and is there a agreement to sell? more
