Fire Crackers MRP compliance
I am based in Delhi and welcome the court decision to ban crackers this Diwali. We spent 3 times more in air purifiers and doctors fee last year than we did in crackers.
However, there is a lot of MRP cheating happens in crackers. A product costing 100 rupees to manufacturer in sivakasi has an mrp of 1200 published and it sells in old delhi for 300. But somewhere in a retail shop it sells for 1200.
MRP enforcement officers should make sure the consumer is not disadvantaged or cheated because of lack of awareness. more

This is one more instance brought to notice ; if you send some evidence of the MRP tag or label it would be useful for the officials to check . We consumers are totally confused as to how such very high margins / mark ups can be allowed . Look what price is marked up and what price it is sold . The difference itself is 3 times the price of the commodity . That is Rs. 900 / . The traders gives up Rs. 900 and sells and yet makes a profit . Government should divert its attention towards this practice o that the citizens don't get cheated by unscrupulous traders. more

You mean to say the department is not aware of it? Sivkasi is producing crackers for decades. more

SirNO one should sell any goods to more than MRP when printrd.No GST on all MRP printed Items.Diwali items cannot be more than MRP infact it has to be sold to less than to MRP. So far there is no legal provision to have control over MRP, except for life saving drugs. Buyers are cheated especially by retailers because they don't give any bills. As a consumer we have to insist for raising a bill by the seller which not an easy task.There must be some kind of law on this. more
