Extension of Income Tax Date
Of course it is good that income tax date date for salaried tax payers is extended by 5 days. As there were many holidays, bank employees strike and water logging/floods in several parts of the country, I hope it could be extended further.
It will not be a surprise if extended to 31st August. It was done as such last year too by the current government. more
Arupratan Sit, I have no clue: what do you mean by" from govt offices nobody should file if they are expecting any 'return' from 80G etc which govt offices does not recognise at the time of issuing TDS." Please be more clear. Thanks. more

Whatever the last date, people will ask for extension. Last year, if I remember correctly, ITO could not deliver the forms online in time and there fore the extension was justifiable. No reason this time. There were no surprises, difficulties were known well in advance, so no justification possible. Even this extension was not necessary. In any case, if one has paid the taxes in time, there is no penalty when filing a few days late. more
