Dual MRP continuing unabated
I must say dual MRP practice is continuing without any checks and legal metrology wing must take action.
For example see attached and book Prystine Food and Beverages, the company behind Blue Pine packaged water.
The half liter bottle has MRP of INR 60 on its own website (attached) but if you go to Barista same bottle has MRP 100.
Can the legal metrology officials raid this company and barista and get this malpractice stopped.
If u cant do that please dont bring any new laws and forget consumer protection. more

There are varieties of products, but no rules to bind them. The companies take advantage all the time. more

The same brand same pack [as mentioned in this case -The half liter bottle has MRP of INR 60 on its own website (attached) but if you go to Barista same bottle has MRP 100.] The same brand , & pack is marked MRP 60 FOR GENERAL PUBLIC . Marked 100 MRP is for the hotels with Ambience . One thing the ones marked with higher MRP should actually mentioned packed for ....... to avoid malpractices by the manufacturer or the distributor. The authorities are supposed to check , but this again will have to be rectified through a complaint . Hope our circle will take it up. more

As Mr. Bindiganavale pointed out , the S.C. had already ruled that the Restaurants and Hotels are not bound by Legal Metrology . The court also went on to explain that the ambienced provided by these hotels need to be accounted for while considering this issue . Then the question of selling over the M.R.P. came and , to accommodate for the Ambience provided , the duel M.R.P. marking has become a practice . Best would be to avoid ordering such products from such hotels that offer ambience to satisfy our ego or we will have to " Grin and bear it. " more
