The moot question is to achieve 100% dematerilisation and for that please go thru my post <https://www.localcircles.com/a/home?pid=IdJ17A2eWlgtdgRQ9-009aI59iamjTpuJ_ZN-7-Trj0>; more
This was notified on 8 June, 2018 and already extended from 5 December, 2018 deadline to 1 April, 2019 deadline. The FAQs through the following link should answer most of the questions:

Maybe extended upto 30 th april. Demat is opted bcos of the requirement. Many Sr.ctzn's are opting, though they will never trade to ensure smooth transition upon their demise. For such Sr.ctzn,s the company should not charge maintanance charges. If other Sr.ctzn.s agree pl. raise your support. more
There are few companies still existing but not replying to any request letters. There is no limit for converting physical shares to electronic mode, only thing is physical shares are not trad-able. more
According to me Demat process will continue, only paper shares can't be sold or transfered to anyone. Pl Check with depository more
