Couriers - Overcharging Scam

The rise of the Courier Services has come about in our country, thanks to Ecommerce, and with them we are seeing the appearance of Courier Companies & Service Provider Aggregators.

Now comes my point… We are presently using Shiprocket a Courier Aggregator [middleman] to ship our fledgling business, products, however we are constantly having to be engaged in ‘Weight Discrepancy’ Disputes with Shiprocket simple because the Courier Companies are relentlessly disputing the valid size & weight of our packets and generally overcharging by 100%.

While we are small, we not only notice these overcharges, but we also are spending way too much of our time and efforts engaged in constant dispute resolutions – which we end up winning – all because these Courier Companies are intentionally overcharging for their services.

We generally win each dispute because we have to take the extra measure of making the pickup courier 'sight an sign' while we photograph and weigh and measure each and every package we use… which fall well within the boundaries of all courier companies weights/size differentials including volumetric size/weights.

This being done when the courier takes the package back to their office it is naturally checked but it is in this checking that the false weight and measure is given and we are build accordingly.

All of this is troublesome now, what to speak of when we get bigger? Would we have to employ a full-time worker to engage in the dispute process???

Joking aside this is a real problem that must be addressed.

Now because none of these large Ecommerce aggregators have a real person involved and we cannot speak with a person who has the authority to address such needs we are left to the mercy of these companies.

We tested the courier company out with a A4 size letter in a regular envelope and they charged for 1.9 kilograms.

We have tried several Aggregators and the same thing happens... this is even with so-called reputable companies like Fed Ex.

If we are getting overcharged by at least 100% how much profit is there in this blatant scam for the courier companies?

Our nation is attempting to get on its feet and build a strong in the small business sector and e-commerce which is courier based so this MUST be looked into and this blatant cheating stopped. more
