CLEANLINESS IN RAILWAYS AND RAILWAY STATIONS

In Railway stations, keep specific areas in each platform for eating and implement prohibition other than the allocated eating area. Allow only passengers and the person who is holding platform ticket in the railway stations. Charge 25 times of the fare or minimum Rs.1000 as fine for ticketless travel. Levying fine for wrong doing should be an continuous act. Those who littering and making the train/station dirty, ask them to clean. more

Cleanliness within Train is very essential. For this the co-operation of passengers is very much essential. The areas where acts that cause the train ugly, nasty, unbearable to sit in the carriage are: 1.While eating food materials, passengers as well as their children, do drop food particles and liquid food materials on the floor of the train making co passengers uneasy to sit there. The train compartments must have invariably eating desk/projections to enable all the passengers to eat without disturbing other passengers. The compartments should be designed suitably. 2. The passengers used to throw the skins of fruits, shells of nuts, empty snacks covers, torn papers, used water bottles, empty soft drink bottles/sachets, used News papers, etc on the floor itself, making the area ugly. 3.Many passenger who have travel sickness or other ailments do vomit within the compartment itself directly down or at the window and there by most of the vomit materials fall on the seat itself. 4.The toilets are not used properly. Since smoking is prohibited within the compartments gents do smoke within the toilets and throw cigarette butts on the floor of toilet, etc making horrible and make co passengers to feel very awkward and unable to use toilets. 5.Though smoking is prohibited within compartment, many gents daringly smoke within the compartment and make the co passengers to breath passive smoking . 6.Individuals who are not passengers enter in to the compartment and paste advertisements within compartment itself, or throw them on the floor. 7. Private hawkers who enter the train to self local produces, children play things, books, soft drinks, etc do their might to make the compartment dirty. 8.Beggars who enter the compartment try to clean the compartment floor and beg alms. This is mainly because the compartment are dirty. The Railway authorities should strictly prevent these undesirable acts and impose punishment. Since most of the trains are vestibuled one and have inter connection, one compartment with dining facility (that is long benches+dining slender tables) so as to accommodate at least 100 persons at a time. Those who carry food from their home or bought from Rly.caterers culd be consumed peacefully. more
It may not be practical for people to get down for food at stations, while the in-coach caterers are providing the eatables, the railways should possibly think of an alternative to existing garbage solution. Just 2 garbage bins are not sufficient enough for the entire coach and hence the litter. more
The penalty must not only be rigrous but also quick to be visible. Besides the caterers must also abide by this rule of cleanliness. Vendors must not be allowed to board non ac and passenger trains. Travellors must get down and procure their eatables. Dr S.Sanyal more
