Clean India Green India Pledge by students

Our government is spending millions on cleaning our cities and rivers, but these steps will not succeed unless we stop throwing garbage in public places.

Pl see videos at www.cleanindiagreenindia.com

Hence, I am inviting schools and colleges in India to encourage students to take a pledge that says:

1. They will never throw litter in public places, on streets and in rivers
2. They will not use the single-use plastic bags and reduce the use of plastics and
3. They will plant a tree, or grow flowers, fruits and vegetables creating greenery around them.

Pl recommend a school to organise a Clean India Green India Pledge.

Pledge is very good to instill ownership and awareness amongst children. In addition to that workshop on waste management is also important. It is very important that every single household manages its own waste. It only takes 5 mins. Not only that it significantly reduces carbon footprint. As quoted by Dr. S.R. Maley, a well-reputed Scientist on the show Satyamev Jayate: He said the best way to recycle wet waste is by way of composting which is a balanced plant food and can be used as a fertilizer in agricultural fields. In technical terms, 1, 60,000 tonne waste is produced in India on a daily basis by 424 Municipal Corporations. By way of composting, we can make 90, 00,000 tonne compost per year by using the wet waste. This number is equivalent to Rs 27, 000 crore spent per years in agriculture. So, the gist of the matter is that 45, 00,000 acre barren land will be made fertile and could produce 90, 00,000 tonne of additional food grains for the country by following this method. Another alternative suggested was by: Dr. Sharad P. Kale – Scientist - Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) - also elaborated the process of making biodegradable gas which is an economically viable idea to save energy and reap benefits by paying a nominal amount. more
A revolution has to be created for changing our habits regarding throwing of garbage and waste management. Every citizen has to be taught to throw garbage only in the dustbin/litter-bin and if it is not found nearby then it should be carried till a litter-bin is found. The habit of throwing things here and there along the street, outside the house along the railway track has made the whole country dirty from Kashmir to Kannyakumari due to our habit of throwing things all around us. Therefore every individual has to be taught for throwing garbage properly. After educating people for one year one should impose a punishment system. At the same time a proper disposal system has to be executed by the local Government to collect the garbage to a central disposal system. more
