Cheating and forged signatures by HDFC Bank Representative.

My brother have opened an account with HDFC Bank on shifting to NCR Delhi last year. When he asked for the locker, the bank asked for two RD accounts. He and his wife signed on forms without going through the first page. After one year it is noticed that the bank representatives had put the money in pension scheme of 10years.More over they make fake signature of his wife in one form as he was not entitled to subscribe the pension scheme being above 70years.I seek the assistance from the learned members to file the case under consumer protection act. more

Signing without knowing what we are signing and its implications, result in such malpractices by others. Even if it takes time, it is advisable to know and sign papers. more
Very sad to read the case. Putting signatures without reading the document can never be justified. But forging one's signature and enrolling in an ineligible pension scheme are clearly offences. First, a complaint must be lodged with HDFC Bank. Complaint can be made through e-mail (visit http://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/customer-centre), by phone to 6160 6161 or by post to HDFC Bank Ltd., New Bldg; "A" Wing 2nd floor, 26-A Narayan Properties,Chandivali Farm Road, Off Saki Vihar Road, Chandivali, Andheri (East), Mumbai- 400 072 If no reply is received or satisfactory reply is not received within 30 days, a written complaint can be to the banking ombudsman. The contact address is (taken from https://rbi.org.in/commonman/English/Scripts/AgainstBankABO.aspx): Shri K K Saraf C/o Reserve Bank of India, Sansad Marg,New Delhi STD Code: 011 Tel.No.23725445/23710882 Fax No.23725218 Please note that complaint cannot be directly made to banking ombudsman without first writing to the Bank. Please keep record of all the communications and documents. Best wishes. more

Mr.Bhatia has brought to knowledge of the circle what most private banks of which ICICI BANK and HDFC Bank do to cheat and even employ forgery of signature. Hdfc ban did similar thing with my son while opening salary account and made him sign several forms, one of which turned out (later) to be a DEMAT account. My son was not even aware of what a Demat account is and when customer care is contacted they speak in such language as to put the blame on the person signing. Finally, they said that the account holder should visit home branch to cancel this account otherwise there is a charge or fee applicable for DEMAT accounts. In a different issue, ICICI BANK lured me with a loan by insisting that the loan amount should be insured for inability to pay and made me pay the one time premium. They did not even disclose the name of the insurance company that provides such an insurance. Later when the claim situation came, it was shocking to learn that its group company ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has even cancelled the proposal which was cleverly and deceptively in my wife's name who is shown as co-applicant to loan. My wife is not a co-applicant to loan and documents clearly prove this. That too this ICICI Prudential states that the amount to be insured was only about 25% of the loan amount and not the entire loan amount (violation of its own provisions of credit assure policy) and that the proposal is for risk cover of death of my wife as a co-applicant to the loan. How can a proposal be raised in the name of a person as a co-applicant to loan when that person is not a co-applicant to loan, for lesser amount of sum assured, for risk cover of death and not inability to repay and that too 3 months after the claim situation arose? Gross violation of IRDA norms and industry practice. When this insurance company was confronted by myself, they stated that the proposal & one time premium were received from ICICI BANK who is the adviser for the proposal and showed scanned copy of alleged application form which contained corrections, over-writings, and forged signature of my wife where my wife's details have been filled in by unknown persons. Gave written complaint to the insurance company, wrote several times to ICICI BANK ALSO. All 1st level to their last level including their Md cum CEO was kept in the loop but to no avail. Filed criminal complaint with police and police kept juggling with the complaint on jurisdiction factor. Filed consumer complaint in Gurgaon and the Forum was bribed to rule in favor of fake, forged document's copy where tampering with evidence of forgery is also clearly seen. State commission did not admit appeal and National commission did not admit RP. This gives clearly message that banks and insurance companies can create fake, forged documents and Law will only support them but not the victim. Clear, irrefutable, compelling documentary evidence is ignored, overruled by consumer Forum, State and National Commission AND also the police, EOW etc. who are only toying with closing complaint on frivolous grounds. This is being brought to the notice of the members to understand how these banks, insurance companies influence courts, police etc. by the money power which actually is the money of the account holders. more
