Charging GST after MRP -Unfair Trade Practices

As per the Legal Metrology Act 2009 the definition of MRP is Inclusive of all taxes whether it is Excise Duty, Service Tax, Sales Tax, VAT, GST, OCTROI, Local taxes. No one can charge any other tax. Every packaged product must contain MRP inclusive of all taxes. Online/ e-commerce simply put the rate on website and then force the consumer pay TAX extra which falls Unfair trade Practices under Consumer Protection act. E-commerce vendor is liable for such Unfair Trade practice and you must make the packer/ Manufacturer as respondent party and file complaint in Consumer forum. more

All States shall mandate and make all Traders display the Rates of GST & their product for sale . This will help the GOI & people at large . All Traders are to follow the Returns fixed at the concept of GST and their Accountants to realize the concept of Quantitative returns that reveal the product Manufactured and , quantity being sold to end users/customers . THIS NOW, THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO CREATED LAKHS OF CRORES BLACK MONEY . more
Every one knows this, but the MRP enforcement section is not taking prompt action. more
The Government through notification has allowed up to 31.12.2017, unsold pre-packed items to be marketed to consumers with an add-on sticker indicating the revised price. The old MRP will have to be clearly on display along with the revised MRP sticker. Under no circumstances, GST can be charged on the MRP. If the trader/seller/Eseller is not adhering to this, then the consumer can lodge a complaint with Weights, Measures and MRP Enforcement or Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. more
If the government takes some action against them, then some people will honor the govt guidelines more
I would like to further add to the post that no tax is chargeable even where the retailers have offered products on discounts as the prices after discount is also discounted or revised MRP. Please report such violations to the State Controller of Legal Metrology. May be you wont find any action initially but keeping quiet is not a solution to unfair business practices. We citizens must ensure that the authorities discharge their constitutional obligations. more
