Birth certificate in punjab

As an NRI born in dist Hoshiarpur in 1940. I need to get my birth certificate. It seems that I have to pay 8000 INR...I mean eight thousand rupees.
What an image of corruption free India. Can anybody comment on this state of affairs where the agent has to pay everybody to get this certificate which should be free.
If anybody says contact the district office, no reply......Iknocked at every door..... more

Here is another case of GUD governance ......... I was born in Wazirabad ( now in Pakistan ) in 1945 and migrated to India in 1947 . I studied in a govt school and later joined Army as a commissioned Officer . My date of birth as recorded in matric certificate and later in Army documents was a valid doc . Now , I need valid Birth Certificate to apply for Green Card , however no auth is coming forward to help me and instead advise me to contact Pakistan govt for the same ....... How silly is the answer !! Any advise / help ? more

Corruption is alternative system in India which works. Please do not Eradicate it. To do it you have to use corruption any way. more
