Biometric Data for linking Aadhaar to Mobile No.

Vodafone Stores are insisting on collecting Biometric data for linking the Aadhaar Number to Mobile Number. This is not right as the biometric data in conjunction with Aadhaar No. can be misused.
It is surprising that while Nationalised Public Sectors are able to link the Aadhaar No. to Bank A/c No. by collecting a self certified copy of Aadhaar Card after verifying with Original Aadhaar Card, how come the Vodafone is not able to do so and has some ulterior motive for collecting biometric data.
Therefore we request Local Circles to please take up urgently this issue with the concerned ministry for issue of instructions to all mobile phone service providers to follow the procedure being followed by Banks for linking Aadhaar No. to Mobile Number. more

Aadhar link to every agency is good but to be marked in secrecy say by online updating mode. more
Are they following purchase procedure as per JIO SIM ? You may be well aware that to get JIO SIM one has to give Adhar card number & finger biometric. You are right, all they need is Adhar card number only. more
I agree. The procedure followed by the Banks is the one that should be followed by the mobile companies. They need not get involved with biometrics. Giving them access to biometrics is inherently dangerous. more
BSNL Stores are also collecting Biometric data for linking the Aadhaar Number to Mobile Numb. Recently new small SIM was issued only after obtaining fresh copy of Aadhaar and biometric data for linking. more
I fully agree with you. This procedure is not correct. Just having Adhaar no linked should be sufficient. Moreover I have not seen any such notification. more
Reliance Jio is also verifying subscriber's KYC by collecting biometric data since long. more
