Airport and Cinemas

Can someone please clarify if vendors at airports and cinemas sell packaged food items and water at higher mrp. Thought the new rule would ban the sales at higher mrp. Is that the case? more

Vendors at airports and cinemas halls are getting the higher MRP printed on the packaged foods and water bottle. Government has no control over such incidents. more
Has any one any idea as to how the MRPs of different products are arrived at and what are the stipulations under the relative laws, because, many items are being sold at much lower prices than the MRPs shown on the packages even without any declared discount schemes, which proves that the system of indicating MRP itself is a farce and the government does have neither any specific norms nor any control over it. As far as the air ports and the multiplexes are concerned, the eatables and water bottles are being sold at these places at prices 3/4 times above the MRPs since long and we are feeling proud of being given chances to show our money powers! more
These is a collusion of all parties and there is no one interested in the complaints of customers. We as customers should not buy from any of these airport vendors. That is the only way to have our voice heard. more
Do the members realise that Stalls at airports and cinemas are operating in airconditioned space and pay huge rent for their premises. Under these circumstances, the option with these Stall operators are i) sell MRP priced items at loss and jack up profit on other items sold by them, or ii) STOP selling these items where MRP is mentioned. more
I for my self always felt that MRP is at the will of the manufacturer. it is not based on cost of production and reasonable profits or anything like. People are at he mercy of producers. No government ever has any intention to organize the costing. Pity we talk and fail....I can give any number of instances including pharmaceuticals as well as consumer items sold at fancy MRPs more
Selling a Pepsi/Coke at PVR for 200... I am sure they take commercial space based on their expected business volume. It probably makes sense to rationalise the rent rather than fleece the common man who is not making anything out of this. more
The old and new rules never allow to sell the packaged products at higher price than MRP but the the judgement of Supreme Court can permit the restaurants to sell Water bottles at higher than MRP but not other packaged products such as Chips, Soft drinks , Biscuits etc as these items are covered under retail Sales. The new rule prohibits to mark dual MRPs of identical products across the cnutry wther it Air Port, Cinema or any other place. more
