Many people are ready to pay tax. But paying tax and keeping records are much difficult than earning money. Moreover very few people are paying tax promptly. so there should be some mechanism to deduct the tax at source and no need to keep record by individual. So no body will escape from tax but no tension regarding calculation record keeping and lot of knowledge about income tax rule etc.... more

Well, Actually Mr. Satheesh..no one is all clean.. be it the bankers, bureaucracy, politicians or Even the Fat Tax payers.. ( Especially the big Fishes) recent clean up measure initiated as demonetization..has revealed many such flaws.. Flaws like those bankers who played dirty in helping Big Fishes escape the trap which was especially set for their type of invaders, people shelled out good amount of money and sought help from weaker section who had bank accounts to convert the Black into White.. All Politicians were safe in this move..bcz they are kept away from any such Tax liability.. and are the best resource for all Big fat Fishes to Convert their filth into Clean asset with a small mutual understanding / undertaking ? more
Tax payers income is enjoyed by politicians, they get handsome salaries, good perks in travels, pensions etc ,what is my point no good governance at center/state would help. They kept on enjoying their kuxarued as usual ,Ultimate thing to combat these types of luxaries with certain rules even for politicians .This issue to be highlighted at broad level, there must be opinion in whole country for these types of luxaries enjoyed by politicians .Media must even may generate signature campaign to highlight the ill culture of politicians. A considated data bank would help to determine /prevent these happening . more
Mr. Pandey, There is no second openion about the corruption has gone deep into our roots and siphoning of a good chunk of tax payers money is eaten away by our politicians and members of the Parliament in terms of their life long pension, their travel expenses and other chain of facilities, they enjoy and that contribute a big Zero to the society. This type of corruption can be lessened or eradicated by a good Government at the centre first and States at a later stage. So we have to pray that a more good sense prevails upon the present Government to come with heavy hand on this menace which has been created since independence. It shall take some years to set such menace to end. Till then we shall have to wait. more
Dear Mr. Tej Kaul, I agree with you that Senior Citizens should pay income tax if income is more than the exempt amount of 300000 Rupees. However your assumption that tax collected is used for nation building may not be entirely correct. Tax Payers money is used for foreign trips of Bureaucrats, Ministers and Groups of MPs, Air travel in Business Class by MPs, Free Travel in Railways by MPs, Salary & Lifelong Pension to MPs, Ever increasing Pension to Retired Govt. Employees, Installing Statues of Politicians, Memorials & Museums for departed Politicians, Expenses of Criminals serving Life Sentences in prisons etc. As against this Senior Citizens who have made enormous contribution in Nation Building and have retired from Private Sector are being punished by regularly reducing rates of interest on Senior Citizens Savings Scheme 2004 from 9.3% to 8.4%. This scheme was started by previous Government as a Welfare Scheme with 9% interest on a maximum amount of 15 Lakhs, for Senior Citizens to provide regular income stream. The interest rate of the scheme was supposed increase from time to time to take care of inflation and was increased to 9.3% in April 2014. All representations to PM and FM to increase interest rate to 10% have been ignored and interest rate has been further reduced to show senior citizens their place, for raising this issue. more
I find no reasons that senior citizens be exempted from Income tax. Senior citizens have no liability on account education and higher education of children and marrying the children. They may require some extra money on their health issues. Though I am also a senior citizen, yet I feel the payment of Income tax as no burden. If ones income falls within the limits prescribed one shall have to the Income tax. This is required for Nation Building. Let's contribute for that. Well, if the present Government replaces the present Income tax by expenditure tax, whoever spends shall have to pay tax so the big disparity of agriculture income not being taxed, shall go automatically. more
