Govt. had announced in last budget 8.3% interest for Sr. Citizen Fd - any idea which agencies/banks have introduced the scheme? more

Go to Dadar in Bombay. There Lokmanya Building Society which gives better interest. Try. They are website. Ask them. more
All banks normally give 0.5% extra interest on FDs to senior citizens. Check with your bank. more
Is the interest income tax free? otherwise it comes to only 6% that also after 5 years' lock in period more
Only LIC have introduced this 8.3% interest scheme. Please contact LIC for details. more
All post offices have this scheme. In addition as monthly income you may contact LIC of India for senior citizens Varishta yojana Bhima pension which on depositing a fixed sum in LIC every month 8.3% interest is paid to the person. it may be beneficial for youto contact some post office savings small savings scheme agents ( who are free lancers and get a commision for canvassing and you do not have to pay; sometimes they pay to you part or fifty percent of the commission) and LIC agents. more
To my knowledge 8.4% only for senior citizen as per 2004 scheme is available and maximum 15 lakh in one name for 5 years can be kept with option of renewal for 3 years only after maturity of the first deposit. and all other Banks are giving 6.9% to General public and 7.4% to Senior citizen. more
I am retired in 2011 I have invested in post office senior citizen savings scheme at the rate of 9.3% quertely interest payment now it is changed to 8.3% . This fecility is there in all post offices and nationalized banks. But it is taxable.
Invest of mutual funds balance funds HDFC prudential mutual funds balance monthly dividend i get per .3% of the the number of units i have every month with slight appreciation and in L&T i get .15% X number of units i have with slightly appreciation.
Mutual fund investment is not that risk more
