i wanted to switch loan from HDFC to SBI. on 1st Oct they SMSed that they have sent my loan application. now one SBI person is asking " how to visit your house...which way it is, how far from there" Another person called up from Kilpauk that "you have to show the original document, no no no noh, you have to come here, yes yes you can send a person with those document"
An application was sent to SBI, Local Head Office, Bhubaneswar during 2017 for an opening of SBI office/ATM at Narayanpur junction under Narayanpur Grampanchayat, Dist:Ganjam since no bank/ATM has been opened for public(Ex-servicemen, farmers & others). Though the authorities have verbally assured to open ATM, till date no SBI office/ATM has been opened at Narayanpur junction in Ganjam District of Odisha. This shows the attitude of negligence in the rural area. Banks should give priority to the rural area for its growth.
The service charges that are going to be levied on public will be a deterrent on banks. Already the services are becoming worse. In addition to charge on services rendered will force customers away from banks. Being a retired SBI officer, I am sure the bank will have a reconsideration on these charges and waive them. As a retired Officer, I have burnt midnight oil in the Bank for bettering it in the branches I have worked. Most of us were like that. At least to do justice to the customers, the Bank has to revise and reduce its charges.
SBI is the only bank in the country who is printing cheques with ORDER in place of bearer.This is creating lot of confusion and difficulty especially for the old and infirm who has to depend on others for getting cash withdrawn from bank. Now different clerks are offering different interpretations. There can be no SELF cheques if withdrawal is through messenger. In that case, cheque has to be drawn in the name if the messenger and his signature is to be attested by the account holder on the reverse side of the cheque. Secondly in spite of core banking , a number of branches refused cash withdrawal if that particular branch is not the home branch.SBI had been possibly the last bank to come up with an UPI mobile app.The bank needs to be more transparent and nimble.
In recent years the SBI service has improved 100 folds. So at present I shall give them 5 stars, may be 7 - 8 years back I wouldn't do it. My branch is Ballygunge Branch, Kolkata. I get very good service.
In Bihar Sharif, there are 4 SBI branches. In none of them, GREEN CHANNEL works properly. Most of the days it remains fail. Even the day it works, you need to swipe twice or thrice or wait for luck. In the three banks, each have two Green Channel machine but they say only one may work, other is permanently non-functioning. And on that one you have to attempt your luck. Out of 20 to 25 tries, I've got only one day when it was working without any problem.
Very poor service and regard for customer. Even money in account in not safe. A forged cheque was encashed from my 80 year old mothers account and inspite of repeated efforts the Bank refused to act and reimburse her money ! And she has been a customer for nearly 30 years with the Bank.
