The chennai bangalore double decker is an unscientific introduction. It is crampled and causing suffering. MAKE IT FOUR SEATERS AT LEAST first. If u want increase the cost. But don't torture the traverllers

Now the road works are faster than before.

The small stretch of Highway of about ten kms. connecting the Coimbatore Bye Pass Road with Walayar in Kerala , is under construction for the last six years. The company entrusted is bankrupt, They start work and STOP every two months. Presently the work is at a standstill, and the alternate roads provided are in a very bad shape with large craters , damaging vehicles, and slowing down traffic., and leading to accidents.

Chennai Bangalore Highway quality is very poor though the toll rates are exorbitant. The first 70 kilometers from Chennai are just 2 lane and the tarmac is dangerously uneven. The roads have remained bumpy and broken for more than 3years in a row and the NHAI (after several intimation, even to Nitin Gadkari ji via twitter) have not taken any serious action other than an unscientific patch-up job. Upon panic breaking the bumpy roads fail to activate the ABS in fast moving cars and many two wheelers fall down due to the half feet deep potholes. The heavy hauling traffic towards Sriperumbudur is the major reason for this issue and the roads need to be asphalted before layering it with bitumen. It needs to be immediately widened too. The Poonamallee ring road too is equally chaotic and poor in road quality.

If one has to rate the first 70kms of Chennai to Bangalore highway, the rating cannot be >2 stars. The tolls are quite expensive per kilometer covered while the 2 lane roads are poorly laid\maintained. The trucks are not monitored\penalised for dangerous driving\speeding, increasing the chances of accidents on that stretch.
