Delhi Police

Brigadier (Dr) Subhash Chandra Acharya, 93F Sector 8, Jasola Vihar, New Delhi 1100235 : Traffic light infront of Living Style Mall on Road 13A from Mathura Road near Apollo Hospital going to Noida is just ornamental. Even when the light is Red for vehicles and green for people to cross the road at Zebra crossing, any one crossing the road runs the risk of being runover because all vehicles ignore the traffic light and move at 60-70 km speed due to down sloping road. The irony is there is a police checkpost next to the traffkic light only to carry the victim to Apollo hospital.

Let us hope the traffic police improve in Delhi. We don't find any one following the traffic rule anywhere in Delhi. No two wheelers wear helmets any more and drive three or more people on two wheelers and without any helmet. Even if the traffic guy is standing and watching , doesn't bother. No four wheeler ever follow lane driving which is most essential for any traffic on the road. Two wheelers just zip from left or right, without caring for any traffic light, even drive on the wrong side as if there is no rule of law. Traffic police is almost non-existant on roads. Even if there is red light people continue to move on for many more seconds and block the passage for the green side. This happens even in the presence of traffic police. Honking goes on without interruption. No one stops before the zebra line. Traffic discipline is almost non-existant. Inspite of traffic hurdle points identified, no action is taken resulting in continuos jam, pollution, waste of fuel and top it all, the inconvenience.
In order to inculcate traffic discipline there has to be strictness with heavy fines and even punching /canceling of licenses. There has to be CCTVs at all crossings. This has to be done on war footing but whether the administrative agencies are prepared and ready for it. What are they waiting for, inspite of the court ruling and various measures suggested by govt. Nothing is happening. If this is the state of the capital what would be the state of other smaller places.

there is no proper forum to give any feedback to Delhi traffic police. Every if you email them, things don't change most of the time. It is agreed that Traffic policing in Delhi, with a harsh climate is a demanding job. However, In the central secretariat area, in front of Krishi Bhavan, Yojona Bhawan, Transport Bhavan (opposite parliament entrance) a large number of vehicles are parked during working days of the week. Traffic police turns a blind eye to such parked cars - god knows why! Only god can help the people around that place if by chance some terrorist booby traps any of these cars. These traffic police have failed to comprehend such issues. However they harass common people and take away your car if you keep it even for 5 minutes on the road to pay your telephone bills or other such utility bills. I hope their bosses read this and educate their juniors.

Pathetic, since central government change 2yrs back. I constantly share issues on WhatsApp, social media, but they don't wanna work and only harrass public but not offenders

I always feel Traffic police are doing the best job under the circumstances. I wonder why do we require a constable or even a home guard to stop us on red light. we wear helmet because some body is at crossing. we drive wrong side as we save few minutes. We feel pride - if we drive very fast, especially if we are with our girl friend or friends out on joy ride.
Any way - if we reach house safe and sound - thank god at least. To day you were lucky.
