Water Logging Inaction

Friends of LocalCircles, I googled localcircles view on water logging and found this survey

Please see attached what is happening in gurugram.

Any ideas on what can be done to resolve this issue for future?

Either we stop paying taxes or we hold these public works and municipal babus accountable? Status quo is not an option. more

All good points. I wish add one more" citizens must stop throwing waste on the roads and public places. When it rains, the rain-water will carry all these debris and clog the drainage opening, resulting in flooded streets/area. If an area is low-lying, the drainage system may need to be improved. And the municipal employees whose wages are taxpayers' ₹₹ must have responsibility and accountability. Politicians who poke their nose in such matters must have their nose cut, even literally. more
Both, Municipal bodies as well as public are responsible for this type of situations. Both. Encroachments, cleaning of drainage on regular basis, no dumping of slid waste in drains be ensured. This type of situation is quite usual in most municipal town in the country. Civic authorities also require adequate technical trainings also more
Why blame public? Are the Municipal Bodies doing their jobs honestly and sincerely? more
Water logging is the net result of rampant deforestation, filling Water bodies, old and inadequate drainage systems, ineffective maintenance, etc. There is an urgent need to awareness all over the nation for publicly identifying the officials, and related contractors. There is an urgent need to come together virtually and raise PILs in relevant courts for making the officials and contractors accountable and punishable. Taxes must be paid. But we have a legitimate right to ensure that the funds are used effectively and not laundered. more
In old cities, drainage problems may be got studied by experts for remedial measures. Timely cleaning of drains, maintaining proper slope/convexity of roads, keeping level of space/drains beside roads lower than roads, inspection for & removal of any blockage should be regular & scheduled. In approval of new construction, drainage should be got checked & certified. Mechanization of cleaning of covered drains maybe referred to engineering institutions/organizations. For upcoming cities, drainage system should be considered first after contouring of the area, before planning construction. more
Municipal Corporation and its employees and officials should be fined, if there is waterlogging in their wards. more
