Why Import Chairs from South Korea?
Stadium imports 50,000 chairs from S Korea for U-17 World Cup
The Dr D Y Patil stadium at Nerul has been transformed from a cricketing arena into a football turf at an investment of Rs 25 crore. For the makeover, as many as 50,000 chairs were imported from South Korea. The seating arrangement has been streamlined to make sight lines clear for every seat. The bucket chairs adhere to FIFA guidelines.
What is surprising that on one hand Government is shouting "Make in India", on the other hand it is allowing import of chairs which could be manufactured in India itself, as it does not involve top secret technology. It would have generated employment.

May be we are not able to deliver quality products , see the performance in other categories ,where we Indians wants to purchase 90% of our needs.if possible from imported items except food grains/raw vegitables. Our SMEs as well as big industries fails to competete. more

Correct but decades dependency is dangerous and leads to downfall of total Economy while uplift only Businessing Criminals for simple profits with Agencies set up within and even abroad which has been resulting in increased Money laundering , Quid-prokho besides the opted Escapism supported by Political Democracy which has been neglecting the imposition of IPC ON ALL SUCH AND CORRUPTION ORIENTATION . more

I fully agree with you, Sir. Govt should provide opportunities to the in-house manufactures under make in India tag before placing import order. This practice should follow now. Thanks more

Very good idea but it is important to learn quality manufacturing also, it has been observed that whenever we Indians get chance we manufacture substandard products. more

The issue of agency benefits under even quid-prokho opts such only . All such are anti National resulting Economy & Fiscal deterioration in the Country. more

Bad practices go with out any concurrence from any of the other ministries.It is really bad for a country like us,that the turf for such games also is imported from other countries. We still do not encourage small business-a back bone for innovation-and development. Entrepreneurs in small scale with a crore to 10 crores with states back up needs to be created at least a hundred in each state. more

Corruption is also MAKE IN INDIA. We also import but never need to go in person for negotiations and it is not necessary also. All these officials would have definitely accompanied by their spouses and children. Mananiy Modi ji are you watching more

There might have been some compulsions to import and installed the chairs in the Stadium. If that was so, Govt. should come out with the facts. In case any thing fishy is found, an exemplary action should be taken against the wrong doers. more
