eCommerce Exports

Dear All, Good Morning, As you know that Online Selling to Overseas buyers through any eCommerce store or marketplace and processing the order through postal or courier is referred to as eCommerce exports. It is recognized by the Government of India recently notification in October 2018.
My question is very simple: how many of you are doing this or availing the benefits of selling through an e-commerce marketplace or own e-commerce store processing the export orders.

Sincerely
Rajesh Parashar more

Exports by POST, Parcel ( read courier as of now!) was there already. The new methods of online marketing, on line payment, and improved international logistics have enhanced facilitation. What Kush is highlighting is real and should be noted. All products may not be suitable for exports thru courier/such express delivery and e-com sales. Export Promotion councils can play a key role in exploring this channel for their members, effectively and yet to be done something proactively. Consignment sales process can effectively supplement the e-com delivery process effectively, without getting caught into the legal and procedural violations. Factoring the import duty at destination markets will be a challenge for uniform pricing.... more
Dont fall in this trap. I am a leading exporter as well as doing huge business in domestic ecommerce, In cross border ecom only 2 products are viable 1) Products which are your countries ethnic or cultural identity, 2) where you region has global lowest cost of production due to technology or raw material availability. Anything apart from the 2 is viable only by evading rules, taxes at destination country or if you are having a monopoly for such product in India. Government of India has not at all helped exporters the way China does. Their government helps them in exchange rates, shipping etc which is giving them atleast 40% advantage over us. Till today there is no digitization of the entire process, a shipment of 100 rs or 100 crores cost the same amount of documentation and costs. Logistics costs are huge if you follow proper route, so as long as you sell a product of more than 10k you cannot absorb such charges and stay competitive. Marketing own website in western markets is very costly due to higher ad costs, trust factor. Going through marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay is a whole new issue altogether. If you really have a product worth selling, open a company in your target country and stock goods over there and sell products via own website and marketplaces. Exports is not easy in current framework more
Dear Rajesh, your explanation on the ecommerce procedure as above is excellent. Would you be kind enough to explain to me as to how to start exporting to the USA, engineering goods, stationery and other non-perishable goods. Your reply by email would be highly appreciated. E commerce is happening since 2005 after Mr. Chidambaram allowed Paypal in India. Payments are facilitated by paypal for International payments and receipts.. Since 2018 the value of export shipments allowed under CSV is enhanced from Rs.50000 to Rs.500000 more
