Why Covid is spreading more in societies
Very important especially for people living in multistory Flats/condominiums :
With the COVID spreading like wildfire all over, some of these multi story colonies in Delhi found that people were getting infected in blocks one or two stories above or below the infected block while there had been no contact at all between
these people including usage of lifts etc.
Few doctors analysed this problem and identified the common sewage lines which run up and down in these complexes. As u are aware, the faeces ejection has a high viral load. The problem can be mitigated to a large extent by keeping your WCs flaps closed throughout the day, and more importantly, when used, the flap MUST be closed before flushing WC.
U may consider sharing this with your friends in other societies. Colony Secy may then issue advisories to the residents.
Additional suggestion - you can go one step further- if you are COViD positive or have mild symptoms - you should consider putting disinfectant or a strong cleaning product into the water of your toilet bowl ‘ BEFORE’ use, this would inactivate the virus that your faeces or Urine put into this water and then the flushed matter would be safer for everyone.

I agree with Sudhinder ji, looks like this message was posted without a reference to study and it is just a false claim. Common toilet lines can't be reason for virus spread. more

There is always present water in the toilet bowl and this acts seal between the sewage line and toilet outlet connection. This design ensures foul smell can nor come from sewage line. ti check how effective is this seal, simply dry the bowl water by whatever means and experience the fouls smell. There has to be another reason like the virus being airborne in nearby flats rather than a shared sewage line. more

This could be causing surges in Noida and Ghaziabad and Gurugram where many societies have 50-200 cases more
