We all have been talking about corruption. I find that most of the corruption takes place due to our own fellow public. Everybody want to jump queue to get work out of the way be it illegal or any other unlawfull. The 2nd level of corruption is that Acts, Rules, Regulations are framed complicated and beyond understandable in such a way that the affected public pay money. The 3rd level of corruption takes place due to abuse of the laws. 4th level of the corruption where the stakeholders are with lust of money money and money. There may be some other factors too. The first three level I feel could not be difficult addressing the complicated issue of enactments. No body should be able to take advantage of illiteracy as far as understanding of Acts are concerned. Govt should immediately start simplification. Awareness is another factor which need to be pressed for immediately. Public should discipline themselves in a sense that we should not encourage getting unlawfull activities. Abuseable Acts need to be plugged for any gaps. Others are requested to please add on to the suggestions. more
I entirely agree with Ms Alka Jain. At present there is nobody who can guide us on the rules and regulations. Even concerned department officials say that "Main aap ki koi madad nahi kar sakta" when I, a senior citizen, asked an official to guide on a certain procedure. Ultimately his department's peon came to my rescue and told me the procedure. Such is the state of affairs, they want you to go to an agent and pay him, from which perhaps they get a cut. Why such mindset exists in our system? Can we not do our work honestly when we are paid salary for doing it. Every official having public contact should ponder over this. They should think about what will happen to them after they retire. "kutta bhi Nahi poochega unhe once they are out of power". This is the reality. more
It's a vicious circle. But still we should try discipline our self . Wish there was a forum where one can go to understand the complicated rules and regulations imposed by various agencies like building laws, water and electricity , public and private sector undertakings . more
Dear Sh. Virmani, Yes, Jago Grahak Jago was a good piece of ad asking people to ask for discounts on the MRP, but the basic question comes to how the MRP is fixed- it accounts of all taxes in different states which vary from 4% in some to 12% in some and maximum profits margin that is why one chemist gives 5% discount another gives 10% another gives 15% and in some other states same medicine priced at 25% cheaper MRP and still 5/10% discounts. same quality fruit/veg is selling at 25% cheaper in non-posh colonies even bulk mandis have different price for same quality fruits/veg. Please see the "AAP KI SUNWAI" website created by shiela govt but it is defunct and selective action taken, no proper recording, no receipt issued back on mail, no track of complaints and its action, no reply for action taken, more
It is a pleasure to know that such good people like S k Virmani are among us. We can hope that the country will be free of corruption with the new government focusing on eradication of the cancer of corruption. more
