Who are servants?

Common sense says that who serves are called servants. If still enlarged those who receive remuneration for services rendered are called as servants. In the initial years of our Independence, government employees were called as "Government Servants." Now the term is changed to Government employees. The meaning of employee falls in the enlarged meaning. So employees shall be ready to serve the people of India. But are they available for service? If one visits any Government office can easily say that they are not the serving people but people beyond reach. They prescribe their meeting time normally after 3 p.m. and ironically many will be engaged in various MEETINGS which will never end before the closure of the day.

Today I saw an article by Mr. Saneep Pandy, noted journalist covering the situation of people approaching MLAs/ MPs / MLCs who have no role to play in the services in Public Offices. The people who have to do service were unapproachable and hence people approach the peoples' representatives in Assembly / Parliament. He rightly described it as square peg in round hole or knocking wrong doors etc.

Even our beloved PM is accessible through internet but these white collar bosses are never available over internet or phone or personal visits.

Can't we make these white collar buddies to bow before public requisitions? Let us discuss in detail and forward to the Home Ministry. more

Thanks for posting your ideas about government employees to me. I will add and request you to spread this idea to everybody. The biggest cause of downfall of Sonia- Manmohan regime is continuous increase of salaries of government employees. They thought that by increasing Govt. employees salaries everybody will feel happy and Congress will get more votes. After sixth pay commission and due to regular D.A. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES got benefited tremendously which causes economic imbalance. In private sector people get increase only due to more business and hard work and that to depend upon the company while in government sector most of the employees get benefited due to increased revenue from taxation imposed on others. People leaving in rural area dependent only on agricultural economy or small shops etc. are not entitled for Govt D.A. so they are becoming poorer and poorer and ultimately forced to migrate to cities. This phenomenon is causing ill effect to decentralized economic model. I agree that there are few government sectors like Army and Bank where government employees have to do hard work but many of the government departments are not like that. If one compares salaries of teachers from government school and private school there is a lot of difference. Regards, Umesh Kumar Rai M: 9811670186 more
