When you go for an outing…

When you step out of the house, you need to look at the list one usually keeps of standard items you need to carry in order not to face inconvenience due to absence of essentials.

These are small items like extra dresses, socks, handkerchiefs, inner wear, night dress, `chappals’, tooth brush, shaving kit, cell phone and charger, train tickets and age proof, prescribed medicines, emergency medicines, and reading glasses etc.

Recently I had to go out of station for two days to visit an ailing relative.

While everything seemed to be in order, on reaching destination I realized that tooth brush and shaving kit were not there. While it wasn’t much of a problem to borrow shaving cream and brush, I purchased a tooth brush and a razor. Luckily, my reading glasses had not been left out…without which a presbyope feels handicapped! more

On a visit to Korea, I realised that I had left behind my shaving brush . When I tried to buy one , I learnt to my horror that this essential item of toiletry had long become extinct in Korea. Finally I had to invest in a costly can of foam which does not require a brush for application. more
