WhatsApp enabling spam by design

This story attached in Dainik Bhaskar about our circle survey and the LocalCircles version on the link captures how whatsapp is compromising privacy of Indians.

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/whatsapp-unsolicited-messages

All of this would be fine if whatsapp said we would sell your data. The problem is they say we dont share your data. But they share what i am doing with advertisers indirectly who then spam us through whatsapp business for loans, fraudulent links, real estate and finance offers (more frauds)

Can the Government please act. We understand they are a business. Just need them to be honest about it? more

Disappointing experience with TRAI too. The TRAI DND app redirected my complaints about streams of unsolicited spams messages being received by me despite individually blocking them, to my mobile service provider( in this case Jio). The service provider respond that these are mostly commercial product advertisement hence cannot be blocked. So why have DND facility ? Same situation in case of Whatsapp messages. Unsolicited and blocked messages keep coming back. more
I receive many uninvited Phones. But Not many through whats App. more
Thanks to SC for taking the matter seriously and some action initiated. I was surprised to see FINANCE BUDDHA messages flooding my mobile and other similar ad which I never opted. In fact all the ICE companies especially foreign one ( SAMSUNG, APPLE ETC) should be reviewed for their forced imposing of un-pleased conditions in simple terms " AGREE" / " DO NOT AGREE" and leading able to use and not able to use. No scope of any conditions acceptance in between. And many functions / tabs which are inbuilt which has no option to load or not to load. It is very very annoying and troublesome situation especially intrusion into our privacy, life style, choices and data mining / mis-using. more
It appears that this issue is now before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and on 3rd February 2026, the SC has given some directives too. Let us hope that the matter will be sorted out shortly. more
Government can not do everything regardless which party it is. There is nothing free in this world more
