Weighing of empty packing box with sweets

As per Act, the weighing of empty packing box is not allowed to be weighed with sweets. However, it is seen that almost all sweet shops weigh the empty box with the sweet. This is unfair trade practice and need to be brought to the notice of concerned enforcement department. I know that most of the consumers would say nothing would happen. I am of the view that we should also discharge our responsibilities which in this way is to report for unethical trade practice. Unless we come forward, no change in the system would happen that means we will be continuing the system of corrupt practices and would defeat the basic objectivity of AAP coming into existence. Lets complain and then seek information under RTI Act 2005 from concerned authorities on the status of complaint. more

Yes, That is one way and mostly it is done by the good sellers. more  
Why not they keep an empty box on the other side of the weighing box so as to neutralise the weight of the box with box on the opposite side. more  
Weight of box is never included in weight of sweets if you notice carefully. If sweets are not kept in box while weighing,how else they should be weighed? more  
I agree Mr. Virmani, you have said nowhere about extra weight but Mr.Satya Pal Ratti had posted a comment on your post in which he had mentioned that "Wise suggestion, indeed. However, my observation has been, that the salesperson behind the counter weighs 1200 or 1300 g and charges you for 1000g only....(which means that he takes into account the weight of the empty box!)." Dear Mr. Ali, I have no where said to weigh extra. What I said 1 KG of sweet should have net content of the sweet as 1 Kg. Why should the wt. of the packing box be included in the sweet. more
