Watery eyes…

`I have watery eyes’ she said. There was conjunctival congestion for which eye drops were prescribed.

But her vision was less than normal both in distance as well as in near, and she needed bifocal glasses.

She, however, was not easily willing to go for spectacles, and had become habituated to screw up the eyes in order to see clearly.

`It’s unwise to give way to wrinkles on your forehead by straining your eyes to see clear…without corrective glasses; do wear glasses to correct your refractive error’ eye doctors say. more

Heredity does seem to be having a role in myopia, Professor Umesh Kumar, but presbyopia is a physiological change, and around 40 years of age everyone feels the need for near vision glasses, and the eye accommodation decreases with the passage of time. As to the increase in myopic power, (rigid) gas-permeable contact lenses are supposed to lessen the rate at which the number increases...and your eye doctor will be happy to discuss this and related issues! more
There is lack of information provided, Raj Sehgal ji; what was laser treatment for (retinal hole, refractive surgery or after-cataract)? In any case, we can only suggest something worthwhile if your friend comes to the clinic (if interested by taking appointment on ph. 25599839). more
Dr. Narendra Kr., Thanks for your postings on eyes. After the age of 40 years generally spects. for near sight are to be worn. Is there any way that such spects. are obviated or the increase of nos. and/r angles after a passage of years? Similarly the distant vision problem was rare in children in my childhood, Now it has increased considerably. Can it also be kept away right from from birth or with no increase of nos. with passage of time? Are these problems hereditary? more
Dear Narinder Ji, you have rich experience in eye care and on optics. I friend of mine who is 71 years old had laser treatment in one of his eye from a leading eye clinic. Operation etc has gone well. The fellow is now having the problem of Double vision hence faces optical illusion while walking. He consulted an other Eye Specialt who has recommended prismatic lenses. Even after using it , the problem is the same. The optical expert says that your number is changing continuously With the use of normal spectacles the vision is ok but double vision exists. Please educate what action can be taken now. Regards Col Sehgal vrsehgal48@gmail.com 9871346496 more
Thanks Walia ji for your kind words as always! - Dr. Narendra Kumar, Ophthacare Eye Centre more
