Want to make Something from Nothing. Pl help me.

I understand that every house/ society can do composting of organic house & garden waste in small and easily manageable compost bins which can be placed even in balconies and garages. Compost, so produced, can be used in gardens, pots as a good fertilizer. Since household and garden wastes account for about 50% of the material which is compostable, we can reduce final waste for land fills substantially at the source point. Prima facie I find it very attractive from waste management aspect.

If any friend in the circle has practical knowledge of composting at home/ yard, kindly guide about feasibility, time involvement and help me to do this activity for the first time. Thanks for the support. more

Sir ji, it may be best, but it is to be used in large scale to control the gas that exerts from the compose of perishable items. more
I have studied lots of material & reviews. I am 100% convinced that if done once, we shall be proud of this composting activity. I reside at Sec.10, Dwarka. If anyone from nearby place can join me, I'll be full of confidence to experiment since 1&1 shall make 11. I assure this is least time consuming with negligible cost and space involved. In west, this is household activity. However, more time may be reqd to convince spouse. Waiting for one volunteer. Thanks. My contact no is 9873560964. more
Dear Mr. Sunil: This indeed a requirement of the day, We all should participate at individual/community level: One organisation called Indian Green Service is in this kind of solution. Mr. C. Srinivasan, Project director from this organisation was also featured in "Satyemev Jayate" last year for implemeting waste managment solution with the help of animals. http://www.indiangreenservice.com/about-us.html more
The problem of waste often surpasses that of terrorism or corruption. Like terrorism or corruption, scientific social engineering during planning and/ or administration can reduce the problem to a great extend. A motivation to compromise or desire to grab an instant political or monetary gain often paves way for pollution. Waste was never a social threat in the traditional life where there was an inbuilt harmony among man, animal and nature. Excavations of Mohan-je-Dora and Harappa show that Dravidians, in 5000 BC pioneered scientific waste management. Immaculate disposal of solid and liquid wastes in sewerages was in place with equal consideration to the health of Man, animal and nature. This can be likened with the modern concept of “one health”, a collaborative effort of multiple disciplines- working locally, nationally, and globally – to attain optimal health for people, animals and the environment. What is waste? "Wastes" are substances or objects which are disposed of or are intended to be disposed of person(s) or are required to be disposed of by the provisions of national law. Changing life style, space constraints, demand on natural resources like land, water and energy, growing population due to better health care, lower infant mortality, growing electronic wastes, overt boost given to construction and manufacturing sector, growing demand constraint in traditional consumables, ever increasing urbanization and urban migration especially into shanties and slums, tremendous innovations in electronics combined with fast upgradation of electronic gadgets etc. has increased the quality and quantity of wastes. Wastes can be Organic waste, Glass, Paper, Metals, Plastics and Hazardous Wastes like chemicals, drugs, batteries, discarded electronic boards etc. Many of the wastes can be recycled or processed; a relatively small portion (but increasing) is hazardous and need be treated to render them harmless or contain them. more
