UPI transaction fee coming

https://www.localcircles.com/a/press/page/upi-transaction-fee-survey

Though our LC survey points to user disengagement with UPI if transaction fee is implemented, Governor of RBI this week indicated that the current zero‑fee UPI model may not last indefinitely, warning that sustaining UPI’s massive infrastructure requires funding. He noted the government is currently subsidizing banks and service providers to maintain the free service, but stressed the need for long-term financial viability.
• He said: “UPI has borne good fruits,” and emphasized that someone must bear the cost—either the government or users—for the system to remain accessible, cheap, secure, and sustainable.
• While not announcing a fee yet, he acknowledged that the government and RBI are considering how to handle these costs going forward—perhaps through Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) or direct charges to users.

There are ways to monetize in the freemium space. Looks like BABU's are not in getting the under the table stuff hence... they are finding ways to internal sabotage the growth of Indian economy. more
Charging each and everything from common man over and above gst is not acceptable...what services govt will offer then, upi transactions are saving so much of bank's mannual hours, banking work for customers accounts has shrunk like anything.....wait air you breathe will be taxed in future more
in cash you don't need to keep records . here in UPI you have to keep record. Cant compare Currency notes & UPI . In Currency notes If you pay extra , No record, No return unless person is honest. In UPI you will get money back in case of extra money payment , reversal etc. Nothing is FREE. The Infrastructure requires set up & to run small amount of charges is acceptable. Even IRCTC charging Rs. 30 /00 , Peoples are paying . No body is asking FREE. more
Government should bear the cost of UPI transactions if it wants to reduce cash transactions. This should not be difficult as thousands of crores are collected as taxes. more
