Talking about Corruption is good - reg/

It's a good sign that we now started talking openly about corruption and some of us are venting our frustration. Some of my thoughts as to why this is existing even in the regular day-to-day jobs is as follows;
(1) Age old laws/rules that are not upgraded with the changed times. Also, the common man does not understand their complexity. For example, even today, in India, we need to go to court to pay fine for parking in a wrong place. Ease these processes, atleast 50% of the corruption would come down.

(2) Complexity in the government organizations. How easy it is to get a Voter ID, Vehicle registration, License and it's renewal?. While government is working very hard to attract foreign investors by TRYING to make things easy to come IN, all of them face issues after they come in due to these complex procedures. Simplify these processes, dear government, we would love to reduce corruption.

(3) High Penal charges for wilful as well as procedural lapses. Look at the intent and the reason for lapse before you penalise. While we acknowledge the lapse, do not take away sizeable amount in the form of penalty. After all, money is hard earned to most of us.

Corruption is not just about ease of doing business, it is also about ease of living, make living simple. more

As rightly said, simplification of procedures and introduction of online systems to get most of our works done without directly referring/contacting any official/employee of the concerned departments would certainly bring down the instances of corruptions significantly though may not eradicate completely. In present days, when many important things, like school/college examinations, interviews etc. are taking place and are able to comply with the laid down norms & procedures flawlessly, there should not be any problems in getting many or our important works in daily life online. For example, it is no secret that every purchaser of motor vehicles require to pay certain amount of bribe to the RTO officials & employees for getting their newly purchased vehicle registered with them being compulsory. Such amount of bribe is added to the total on road cost of the vehicle by the dealers themselves who claim to pass on such money to the concerned RTO employees/officials. Same thing happens when any owner wants to shift his vehicle from one state to another and to get a new registration of his vehicle. In my opinion systems must be evolved to get such works by the vehicle owners themselves online after complying with the laid down procedures/requirements, which should be simple, minimal and easy to comply with. Similarly, why not our railways are introducing system of automatic allotment of seats/berths to the wait listed passengers as and when these are vacated during running of a train. This way the prevailing corruptions in TTEs in berth allotment could be completely eradicated. The railways must be aware of the technology needed in this regard but their sincerity in eradicating prevailing corruptions in railways is doubtful! As of now, to get a copy of the Revenue record called 'B-I' showing the details of the landed property owned by you, you have to approach the Patwary (who maintains the revenue records) for the purpose and until he is bribed you won't get the desired records. The government must put all revenue records online in a specific site with systems to access by the citizens and get copies of his own properties with utmost care for security & accuracy of the data fed therein. There are many other areas, where corruptions can either be totally eradicated or substantially reduced by changing the century old systems & procedures and making them user & consumer friendly as well as drastically reducing the scopes & avenues of the employees'/officers' direct interference. But do our government(s) really have the will & courage to take bold steps to eradicate corruptions from our land, which would dry up the sources of earning bread & butter for many of our so called bigwigs? more
